Hamilton's annual Supercrawl festival is this weekend, and while I missed Friday's festivities due to work and being tired, I made it out Saturday to check out the artwork, chat up some vendors and catch one of my favourite bands, Spoon.
When I'm shooting reportage, I aim for a mix of both candid and playful shots, while also looking for a unique perspective on things, like capturing a shot of someone using an iPad mini to record a fashion runway show.
Blackbird Studios Runway Show
A lot of people older than me keep mixing up this amazing band with the local 80s band The Spoons. Not the same band. At all. Spoon is an amazing rock band whose music keeps staying fresh through all of their albums, the latest of which was released just last week. If you thought I meant The Spoons, please educate yourself and find out more about them at the Spoon website.
Sunday, Sept. 14
On Sunday, the last and shortest day of the festival's weekend programming — not counting the single-show opening Thursday night with A Tribe Called Red, which I didn't get to see — I caught a slightly too-long fashion show at 3pm that was a great collaboration between a number of designers, hit the streets with my great friend Shelagh (the red-headed model you'll see in a number of shots) and caught a sensational show by 12-piece Brooklyn-based ensemble Antibalas on the main stage.
